I am throwing a backyard bbq this weekend for my H 30th bday. I wanted to do a small edible favor and since its Easter weekend also, I thought of easter eggs with some candy inside each. I would put a basket of eggs on each table, however it will be close 80 degree's outside and I am afraid the candy would melt.
Any alternate suggestions... I did think of keeping a basket in the house inside of outside, but I was thinking that a basket on each table would be nice decoration.
TIA
Re: Party Favor...
What about putting a little note in each egg that sends people inside to grab a little bag full of candy? Maybe you (or some other clever wording person reading this) could come up with a little rhyme or something cute to put on paper. That way the candy stays cool and you can still have the egg centerpieces with a "Take One" sign. You could add a made up fortune or something if you want them all to be different.
You could add some additional not edible easter themed things to the basket as well like nicer painted wooden eggs or bunny/chick stuffed animals.
Or fresh flowers are always nice as centerpieces in the spring too (you could do potted plants) and the eggs could just be inside with the candy.
Since its for your husbands birthday, I would do something more masculine. To be honest with you, around holidays the last thing i want is more sweets coming in to our house.
Do you have a World market Cost Plus near you? Even a good dollar store?
Do a basket of mini hot sauces or bbq sauces with a tag attached to it that say "Thanks for celebrating with us"
I like jj's idea.
Personally, if I was a guests at your party, I wouldn't even bother to take one. And then all that work you put forth would have been a wasted effort, not to mention the leftover you'd have.
