is the quote fair for a 12x15 paver patio?

we got a price quote of $2,300 for a 12x15 pavio patio, there is no existing patio to rib down or any landscaping to remove. there are currently 3 concrete stairs that lead from the french doors to where the patio would be, he wants to charge an additional $1400 to incorporate the steps. what do you think would be a fair price? we havent picked out the style of the stone yet.

how many bids have you gotten?  the best way to figure it out is to get at least three, five would be better.  and never choose the lowest bidder, esp if it's substantially lower than the rest - you get what you pay for.

  • Prices vary depending on your location and the material used. For example, I live in MI - the cold winters mean that we have to have a deeper foundation for our patios and therefore our material cost is significantly more than what someone in a warmer climate would pay!

Like PP said, getting three estimates and taking the middle one is a good way to be sure you're getting a fair price and quality workmanship.
