Re: Went to the Dr
Glad that you love your doctor and that she sounds fantastic. Hope that you have some luck here.....
FWIW: the piece of mind of having a SA done is worth it. I know you said there are other hold ups about it but just consider it.
TTC #1 13 cycles, CP 6/09, TTC #2 1 cycle
CDing, EP'd for 13 months for #1, BFing for #2
Pregnancy Hypertension - inductions at 39w, I grow big babies: DD was 9 pounds 1 ounce 22 inches, DS was 11 pounds even 22 inches - both vaginal deliveries
I only know b/c we got a really good book at our Precana (which was actually awesome).
Clomid = okay, b/c it's allowing/helping your body to do something it's naturally supposed to do on its own. I think the bigger kudos from the Catholic church is that you still conceive via actual intercourse (the Church believes procreation is the only way to have children - so it rules out IUI and IVF, and most ART - artificial reproductive technologies).
SA = masterbation, which the Church frowns upon. The Church believes that the only time man should release himself is during intercourse - no hands on or oral. I think the issue here is that the Church believes that intercourse not only brings a couple together, but it's also a way in which a couple experiences God's joy - it's like a physical feeling of the pure joy you will feel when you go to Heaven (or something along those lines - I'm not explaining it well, and for some reason, cannot find the book).
Ironically enough, it is okay for a woman to climax from oral due to the way woman are made and the fact that most woman cannot be satisfied through intercourse alone (or something along those lines).
I can't find the book right now, but it was essentially a lay-man's version of Pope John Paul II's statement on marriage, procreation, birth control, etc. Very good and very interesting.

Very true - there is a place in the midwest that's like a Catholic reproductive clinic, but not sure about costs and insurance and whatnot. I read about it on a blog - naprotechnology. I can't figure out what it is exactly, although it appears to involve a glorified version of the Creighton method.
I disagree with some things, and although I see and understand the Church's stance, I don't necessarily agree with it. However, DH is much more conservative than I am in this regard, which is why I"m sure we'll have lots of discussion about it.
I think they should cut couples a break and let them do at least IUI. Other options such as IVF should also be up to the couple. We personally wouldn't due to costs and other factors, but it should be at the discretion of the couple.
LOL @ all the Catholic church stuff. That's really interesting/amusing!
Good luck to your and yours hubs. I hope you guys can get what you need done and not spend a fortune!
