Ladies Night in Menu help
I need some help with my menu for a ladies night that I'm holding as fundraiser for my 3 Day walk. We usually have ladies night every couple of months where we hit a restaurant than go out clubbing. The last ladies night was a toy party at someone's house. This was a huge hit and I'm thinking about having a ladies night in to help raise money for the 3 day would work too. Instead of spending money at a restaurant or bar, they could donate the money saved toward my walk. My idea is to supply all of the food and have a couple pink drinks. Here is what I have for my menu so far........
Apps:
- creamcheese spread with veggie and crackers
- some type of baked brie with crackers
- a fruit/veggie tray with some type of dip...maybe some hummus for the veggies.
Main course:
Not sure what to do here...any ideas?? I'm looking for something good but not too heavy. Maybe some type of pasta dish??
Dessert:
- vanilla cupcakes with pink frosting
- sugar cookies with pink frosting or pink sprinkles
Pink drink of the night:
- cosmos
- any other pink drinks??
- There will also be wine, any other mix drinks people may bring, beer, soda and water
Re: Ladies Night in Menu help
For your appetizers, I would swap one of the dips for something like a satay, canape, etc. I'm still thinking about the entree. What is your budget/number of guests/time of day/etc.? Any dietary restrictions?
I have a few pink desserts in my food blog. Here are some that might work.
Raspberry Cream Pavlovas
Strawberry Sundaes with Prosecco Sabayon
You should also look at epicurious.com for drink ideas. You can look it up by spirit or main ingredient, as well.
I would skip a typical main entr?e, and serve all apps, with some being heavier. As with the pp, some sates would be yummy, and maybe stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, etc. Things you could make a meal out of without sitting down.
These are really yummy, and even good at room temp: Artichoke Puffs
Here's a yummy idea for a pink drink: Sweet Heart Champagne Cocktail Here's some other ideas that i've been wanting to try:http://www.visionsofsugarplum.com/2009/12/brie-phyllo-cups-with-honeyed-figs.html http://www.lifesambrosia.com/2010/01/caprese-pockets-recipe.html http://www.lifesambrosia.com/2010/02/artichoke-tapenade-recipe.htmlhttp://www.crumblycookie.net/2010/02/24/roasted-garlic-balsamic-white-bean-dip/How about a chicken primevera dish for the main course?
And for drinks you can do sangria or pink squirrels.
I would skip the main course and do all appetizers/small bites - I love small food!
The recipes the PP suggested sound delicious!
I agree with this. I like to snack and visit rather than having to sit next to one person for a long time and only talk to them.
Since that's the case, I agree with pps about skipping the entree and doing finger foods. The more you can prepare ahead of time, the better. If you can, get someone to help you set up and put any finishing touches on the appetizers.
If your budget truly isn't a concern, you might consider having it catered. Otherwise, here are some appetizers that can be prepared (at least in part) ahead of time.
Potato and Parsnip Latkes
Herbed Yogurt Dip with Vegetables
Spanakopita Triangles
Wild Mushroom, Garlic and Thyme Bouchees
Lemon and Saffron Chicken Skewers
Dates Wrapped in Bacon and Stuffed with Blue Cheese
