So Jack had his 4 mos check up and is looks great...he weighs 13.1lbs and is 25 1/4 inches. He had his shots and didn't take them as well as his 2 mos, but only cried for a few minutes. He had a fever for a couple days too, my poor baby! We got the green light for solids, so we may start them this weekend...I don't wanna rush him though, but we excited to try, so we will probably try sooner than later hehe. He loves to watch Mommy & Daddy eat while he is in his bumbo seat(on the table) at dinner time, so I think there's definately an interest. Anyone else trying solids now(Lisa, Amye, Beth, Carryl?)
Today we are watching Jack's buddy James and they are both(knock on wood) sleeping at the moment! He is 3 weeks older than Jack! It's been tricking balancing two babies with different feeding/eating schedules, dunno how Moms of twins do it(though I guess you do get them on similar schedules probably) But I think they are both pooped :-)
Hope all is well, I will try to catch up some as I've had a hugely busy week or two, with company in town and running around crazy with my fellow mommies(from group) having fun before they all go back to work(3 are teachers) Makes me sad...but there's always vacations and holidays and of course weekends to play :-)
Re: Jack's 4 mos stats and update
Jack's 4 month stats look great, almost the same as Isabella's. We started her on rice cereal. First time I tried I followed the instructions on the box and it was way too runny. I now eyeball it so it is right consistancy. She mostly moves it around her mouth and it goes down her chin, but she likes it and even opens her mouth up for it now. I only make a little so I don't waste any bm and give it to her when I get home from work. I have to go to BRU tomorrow to get new bibs with plastic because the stuff gets all over the regular bibs and her clothes.
Good luck and have fun!
He sounds like he is growing just great! Yay for a healthy baby! I tried to start solids with Austin about maybe a week or more ago and he just started crying every time we tried - so we tried for 3 days with the rice cereal (in the morning in case there was an allergic reaction) and he just didn't seem to take to it....so we stopped trying and I just started trying again this week and he took to it immediately. I didn't know if he had any interest in it, since he is never awake long enough to see Tom or I eat a meal, but after breastfeeding him earlier this week I still heard his stomach gurgling and decided to break the cereal out again....mommy instinct told me to...also because he seems to be awakening from him naps really hungry and only sleeps for about an hour then is up ready to eat again...
So anyways, I busted out the cereal again and was told by the pedi to do 1 tablespoon - I only did 1/2 though and he's been gobbling it up. I mix it either with formula or breastmilk and make it about as thick as "pea soup", then just take a little on the spoon and hold it up to his lips and he sucks the spoon until he gets it all off - so far he's liking it and I think we are going to try oatmeal next week, since rice cereal can be binding. I also gave him the cereal before bedtime the other day and he slept from 5:30pm to 7:30am - woo-hoo!!
