Family friendly dining in St. Louis?

Hi everybody! I hope you don't mind me popping over to your boards here. DH & I are taking the little one on a little trip to St. Louis next weekend. We're hoping to hit the zoo.  We'll be staying near the zoo & Clayton area.  I wondered if anybody had any recommendations of kid friendly restaurants they would recommend.  I also wondered if anybody knew a good place for sushi while we're in town.  Thanks!!

  • For kid-friendly, it's all the usual suspects - chili's, applebees, friday's, etc.  For something slightly different, you can try J. Buck's (there's one in Clayton), which is maybe one notch above those other places but still family friendly (at least during the earlier part of the dinner rush).

For sushi, I recommend Wasabi - there's one in Clayton.  I also recommend The Drunken Fish - there's one in the Central West End, which is not too far from the zoo.  I can't think of any kid-friendly sushi places, though. But if you go for lunch and have a relatively well-behaved kid, that might work.

  • Dewey's Pizza in Kirkwood and U City is kid friendly and the pizza is TO DIE FOR. Schlafly Bottleworks is a microbrewery in Maplewood with great food and a big patio. www.saucemagazine.com is a good resource. On the right side, click "find a St. Louis restaurant" and you can search for places based on a zillion attributes, cuisine, or neighborhhod.
