What do you do for Easter?
Cooking? Church? Easter Eggs?
This is the first year that I'm cooking and having my parents over as well as my MIL. Should be fun . I'm getting a honey baked ham and think I'm going to make scalloped taters, mac & cheese, and the classic green beach casserole. I need a dessert though...any ideas?
Re: What do you do for Easter?
We go to the sunrise service at our church. Then we usually do a big family lunch. Since this is our first year alone for Easter since we moved away, we are going to do dinner instead of lunch.
We always have Honey Ham, homemade noodles, green beans, corn, rolls, etc... for Easter. A family tradition food wise is to also have "Pineapple Rice." Yumm!
We do Easter Baskets, and when we were younger we both had Easter Egg hunts.
church, then lunch/dinner (whatever you call eating at around 2:30pm) at the in laws. MIL normally has honey baked ham and all the trimmings. Then we spend the rest of the day playing games or watching movies.
I make a basket up for DH every year bc I think it's cute, lol.
He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.
<a href="http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk121/behapybride/?action=viewI want the recipe for "green beach casserole" teehee . For a dessert rec, how about carrot cake? Delicious and goes with Easter! I am probably making chocolate cake for our dessert since it's always a crowd pleaser.
We always go to my sister's house for Easter. This year she is serving a ham, deep fried turkey (I'm not really a fan but whatever), and then a mix of American and Cuban sides. I am making the dessert. Afterwards we do an Easter egg hunt for the kids and just hang out and talk, sometimes play games.
I'll probably get DH and I a basket of yummy deliciousness as well.
I hadn't done an Easter basket for my husband in the past, but it would be fun to start, now that we are married. My mom always does Easter baskets for us because I still have a 10 yr old brother and he still likes the candy! and the Easter egg hunt and breakfast and dinner. She just uses it as an excuse to have all her kids around the house ALL DAY!!!
I can't blame her! I am excited for a fun family day...seems like work has been taking over my life lately!
Usually we have brunch with the ILs and then dinner with my family, but since DH is working, I'll probably just spend Easter with my family this year. My mom and I always cook together - a Honey-baked ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and probably a few Cuban sides, and my dad brings desserts from the bakery.
Church in the morning. Then we go to my parents house. Though H has to work this year again since he's a police officer. =( So, I doubt he'll be able to relax that day.
We'll probably do brunch or dinner. Ham or roasted pork with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and I personally love carrot cake. We may have apple pie instead b/c my dad loves it and gets it EVERY event.
We bake traditional easter cookies and sweet bread, dye red eggs....the whole nine yards! We go to church every night of Holy Week, or almost every night....especially Holy Wednesday for the Holy Unction (holy oil) and Good Friday and then on Holy Saturday for the midnight service (resurrection) and Easter Sunday. We usually cook the traditional lamb meal with all the Greek trimmings When I was little we would roast the lamb (whole) over the fire pit. This year we are going to our church for lunch...hubby is the President of our Parish so he has to be there. We will go to my IL's for dessert later. We are also going to our country club on Saturday for brunch and a HUGE Easter event that they are doing for the children...easter egg hunt, face painting, petting zoo, rides etc. FUN!
Happy Easter Ladies!
Ha ha ha, I didn't even notice that. Guess I have the beach on my mind. Carrot cake....never made that before. Maybe I'll do that. Thanks for the idea.
