Agave Nectar Article

Thought I would share this article on agave nectar with you

Re: Agave Nectar Article

  • Someone posted this a while back on here, and I think a lot of us dumped the agave nectar idea because of it! I had been using it a little and I think it made me really hyper. Back to honey!!

  • I recently read this article and have stopped using agave.  I also look for it in anything I buy, so I can completely avoid it.

  • What is the Mercola website? I always look at my source before coming to any conclusions. Just this morning, I saw a video on yoube where a RD had a list of 10 fuperfoods. Agave nectar was one of them. So now I am confused.

Dr. Mercola is a 'health activist' (his own words), osteopath and started Mercola.com as a health information website. He does also I believe sell/make a few products (like skin care, not sugar!).

If you google various topics on agave you can find other sources. It seemed to really affect me (making me REALLY hyper, almost caffeine-like effects), and it doesn't seem to be particularly environmentally-friendly in production. I don't even eat regular sugar for that reason and try not to buy products with granulated or brown sugar, so the agave turning out not to be any better environmentally turned me off to it. Those were really the two reasons I got it.
