diva cup users...

this is my first post on this board, but I have lurked here a bit, which made me decide to try out the diva cup.  so far, I'm a big fan!

I found the measurement lines very interesting.  I'm wondering if you all have paid attention to them, and how much you end up with during the course of AF.  I thought I'd heard that 1 - 1 1/2 ounces during the whole week was normal.  But on my heaviest day this month I emptied the thing 4 times for what had to be at least 3 ounces total.  Sorry for all the details Embarrassed  TIA for sharing your own experiences...

Re: diva cup users...

  • I do pay attention... not to the exact amount, but yeah... I think I empty mine 2 or 3 times and it is really full... and then it dies down.

  • LOL!  If I went by the estimates on the DC website, I should be in the dang hospital!  I am definately heavier than 'average'.  I've seen this question asked before, and quite a few people have agreed that they exceed the 'normal' range.

  • I have paid attention to the measurement lines. I've learned I have lighter periods than I thought.
  • i'm just starting with the diva cup, have used it for one month so far.... it seems i'm lighter than i thought though.... on my heavier days when i would have gone through super-plus tampons every two hours, i've only changed the dc, maybe twice the whole day--- and i really didn't even need to, i was just paranoid.   i think i could've left it in the whole time and gotten away with it!   i love it, and am looking forward to running out of my tampon stash and relying solely on it!

  • i haven't used mine in many months because i am pregnant but i never really paid attention to the lines. however, i think mine was a larger number of ounces on my heaviest days.

  • I think 4 ounces is normal for the whole period....with my Diva cup I realized I was doing like 2-3 ounces each day for the first two days...so already that's 4+ ounces...then it tapers off FAST on the next two days. I would say some months I have 6 ounces...I was nervous so I went to my doc and she ordered hormone testing just to make sure everything was A-OK. It was! She said my results actually came up incredibly normal...like really healthy actually...so I'm just an unlucky girl with heavy periods. If you're worried about it, mention it to your doc!

  • I'm lucky I only have to empty mine once a day even on my heaviest days.  So I would say my whole period is 2 ounces or so.

Exactly this for me as well.

  • I pay attention to how full it is when I empty. I have to empty every 3 hours on heavy days to ensure that it is only 2 oz. Anymore and it will spill when I try to remove it. That means I have to sleep with a backup for the first two nights which makes me sad :(.

  • Everyone says the total volume is less than you think, but in my case (and, really, many others), that is not the case!  I was nervous too, but it had always been that way, and other levels are fine.  It's worth mentioning at your next physical, though.
