I planted 2 lilac bushes, drawf I think, 2 summers ago. They didn't bloom last year, this year they have their leaves already and I am not seeing any bloom buds. I am in zone 6a, should they be blooming soon? How many years do they need to be planted before I get flowers? Thanks!
Re: Lilac blooming question
Mine bloom mid May in zone 7.
Are yours planted in full sun?

I'm in 6A/6B... my lilacs currently have leaves and I just noticed bloom buds over the weekend.
I planted mine in '06.. they were about 18 in. tall and had blooms on them when I purchased them.
'07 they did not bloom, '08 they bloomed (just a few sparse flowers) in September (weird??), then finally last year they bloomed in spring.
Good luck! I don't think they're a lost cause or anything! I bet they'll bloom next year for sure.
