Vent: Brighthouse

I am so irritated right now at stupid Brighthouse. Honestly! I cancelled them on July 23rd and they charged me August 9th for the month of August. WTF. I called them and all they did was give me the run around. It's highly irritating.

I finally managed to get it semi resolved. I do have to call back though because now that I think of it, they still owe me $36!

Re: Vent: Brighthouse

  • I second the vent.  How is it not a monopoly when there is only one cable provider and I have to pay $70 a month for their smallest plan?  And somehow taxes and fees on everything end up costing me $130 a month?  I finally cancelled my service because I was so disgusted.

I would rather go back to satellite with a Tivo, at least that only cost me $50 a month including taxes and fees.  Yes, I lose signal during a storm but that's what Tivo is for.

  • so the tivo records it even if you dont have the service???
  • ?

Tivo is a separate service from Brighthouse.  Tivo is $20 a month to rent the Tivo box.  DVR is Brighthouse's version of Tivo.  Some people have Tivo and DVR so they can record four programs at once.  We were still able to use the Tivo box because we owned it; you just don't get the Tivo reminders or suggestions.

  • Brighthouse is not our favorite, that's for sure.  They came to our house to install two new cable outlets a few months ago.  Well, the guy successfully installed one, but ended up putting a hole in our ceiling when attempting to put one in our bedroom (he was up in the attic).  He just kinda "guessed" where he should drill a hole (he was trying to go through the wall, not the ceiling).   Anyway, end result was that he couldn't do it, but we ended up getting charged for two outlets anyway.  Not only that, but I had to take time off of work to meet a guy at our house so that he could fix the hole in the ceiling.  Well, that man didn't have the proper color of paint or something, so then he had to come back a second time  My husband had to leave work that day so that the guy could finish the job.  What a hassle, and we still got charged for two outlets when we only have one new outlet.  It's just annoying that they are the only cable provider in our area.  Drives us nuts!

I totally understand why you think they are irritating!!!

  • I have had my own issues with Brighthouse, but they ended up saying sorry and giving us 6 months of service for free. It's a long story, but they made it right and DH and I made sure to speak with managers.
