My basement is a mess

I really hope this is the last of the rain.  We are flooded again.  How is everyone else?

Re: My basement is a mess

  • Oh no!! We had a little bit of water on the walls of the bulkhead stairway, but inside we are okay. It's supposed to stop today, then dry up and warm up, so hopefully this will be it!

  • On Fox this morning they said this is the most rain we have had since 1955....so I hope we don't see this amount of rain again for a long time.  Pumping water out of the basement is no fun at all!
  • Yeah, we've had 11 inches of rain in the month of March - and of course all T can think is "what if it had been snow!!!!!!!!" (he's a little crazy)

No flooding for us - just our usual little puddle we get when it rains.  We've been lucky

  • We have lived here for five years, and never until this month have we ever got so much as a trickle.  I have about 3-4 inches in the basement now.  We expected it this time though...so everything is up off the ground.  I am pumping out the water now.
  • I am very thankful that our builders graded our house/basement above road level. We haven't had any problems thus far; I'd hope not with a 5 month old house.

  • Our 6-year-old had never had any water issues until the last storm. We got maybe a 1/4" then (I'm not sure because DH dealt with it while I was at work, shop vac'ing it all out).  No additional water with this storm so far, thankfully.

I can't wait for the weather these next few days!  On the news last night they upgraded the forecast from 70s to 80s over the weekend!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I'm kind of afraid to go down there to see, but since we live on a hill and have a nice french drain, DH thinks it should be ok.
  • I'm sorry to all who have flooded basements, that has to be such a pain. It's supposed to get really warm and sunny after today so hopefully that will help everyone dry out!

Oh my goodness, yes!  I think that there is a 10:1 ratio for snow and rain, so 1 inches of rain would be 110 inches of snow... yikes!
