Update

Ok, I'm saying hello again, since my last post in Feb.  Bad nestie I am.  Life has taken a turn, as I was laid off from my job that I had to go reinterview for the same position.  It sucks to be an unemployed lady right now, but I think it is for the best.  I don't have to travel anymore, which I hated leaving dh and puppy all the time.  I have gotten into a side business, which will keep me busy until I land my next career move.

I hope all is well for you all, and Happy 1 year Anniversary march ladies!  Our 1 year is in April, can't believe how fast the past months have flown by!  What did you do for your 1 year?  I think we're planning to stay 1 night at the Westin Kierland Commons, dinner at Deseo-its fabulous!  One of the best restaurants in Phoenix, in my book.

I will be posting much more, now that I am unemployed, so I can keep up with what is going on here!  Have a great day, ladies!

Re: Update

  • I'm sorry to hear about the layoff, but I think you've got a great attitude about it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that something bigger and better is just around the corner! What kind of side business do you have?

That sounds like a great way to spend your first anniversary! We went up to Flagstaff for a night, watched some football (our anniversary was in September) and relaxed. It was a nice little get-away.

  • Welcome back again! Sorry about being laid off but you are taking it so well. Happy early anniversary! Ours isn't till July. It has come by so fast though.

  • Thanks!  Your getaway to Flag makes me rethink our plans, and stay at a bnb up there!  Might be cheaper than a night at the Westin!

I was struggling with my job anyway, I went through all the process to see if it was worth sticking out, and in the end it wasn't meant to be.  I knew layoffs were coming, but it was a shot to the ego they didn't want to bring me forward into the new organization, but I'm not alone, 30 others in my sales org were laid off as well.

The side business is for a soaps, lotions and gifts company as a manufacturer's rep.  Its a great company with amazing products that I love the look of and feel of, I can sell them to stores, home parties, and via my webiste.  I would love to share it, but I don't know if I can share the site on this board or not.

  • Hey Kristen!  Lovely to see you!  Sorry about your job-my dh has been unemployed for almost 3 months-boo.  Hope you find something you love soon! Can't believe it's almost been a year, I don't think we're doing anything special-we're lame like that...
  • Hi Shell!! Date twin! :)  Sorry to hear your dh is in the unemployment boat.  Hope he finds something great as well!  Ahh, not doing anything is just as fine.  We kind of need a break, since we have had our puppy, we've not done one thing together without her, and we could use a night just the two of us, and sleep in!  We love our puppy, and I guess its like having a baby, don't know that feeling yet, so we decided let's have her stay at my parents house, and run away for the night somewhere.  We'll see, we might end up staying at home as well.

I would totally recommend this B&B in Flag: http://www.inn410.com/  We stayed there once and LOVED it. Such a cute place, great breakfast in the morning. It can be a little pricey, though, depending on which rooms they have available so we usually stay at the Monte Vista, which I also love. I'm a sucker for historic hotels.  :)

I can totally understand how it would be hurtful to be part of the layoffs. Even though it's not your fault, and even though you weren't singled out, I'm sure it still stings quite a bit. Hopefully you'll be able to look back on this in a few months when you're in a better job or doing something you love and you'll know it was just one of those things that was meant to be.

The soaps and lotions company sounds great! It's even better that it's a product you really like and believe in -- that makes a big difference when you're trying to sell, I'm sure.
