Tanning Salon?

I am thinking of possibly going to a tanning salon to get some color on me. I know beach season is here but I figured I could jump start things.

So does anyone have some experience with this? How long do I need to lay in one of those tanning bed's in order to look like I just came from some tropical paradise?

If any of you have any specific place to recommend please do so. I live in Kendall but anywhere in Miami Dade is fine.

Re: Tanning Salon?

  • Sorry I have no experience with this, but would love to see if any onehas something to say...I also need some color!!!!

  • I would stick with a spray tan.  The tanning salons have a lot of options for that.  There is a lot of talk right now about tanning booths and skin cancer. Most tanning salons have the spray tan and its lasts about 4-5 days, plus theres no burning! Wink

ETA: Not sure if there is any near you, but Boca Tanning is a great, affordable price.  They are all over up in Palm Beach County.

  • When I was in high school I worked at a tanning salon one summer. I got free tans - and then I got a little cyst on my eyebrow. I went to the dermatologist who then told me to stay out of the tanning bed. He also checked out all my moles/freckles to make sure that everything looked okay.

I agree with Shawna, spray tans - yes, tanning beds - no. :)

  • Thanks ladies. I guess it seems the safer way to go is spray tan. I will look into prices in my area.
  • Cancer and wrinkles! Stay away!  I know so many girls that used to tan a lot in high school and now they already look aged and it's only been 9 years...

I actually embrace my paleness and I cannot even imagine myself tan anymore.  Although, I do admit that bright summer colors look better on tan skin.

Kim Kardashian goes to Sobe Tan in Miami for her spray tans when she is down here.  She always looks golden and beautiful!  http://www.sobetanmiami.com/
