Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

The bank verbally countered our 250,000 with 254,000.
And I think we're going to pass.
We've seen bigger and better since then that will require less work.
On the one hand, I hate to let it (and $8,000) go, but on the other do we want to feel like we could have done better?

I totally agree with you . . . but how are you losing money if you pass?
Ditto....why would you lose 8k? I think if you feel that there's something better out there based on what you've been finding since putting the offer on Mesa Alta, it might be worth continuing the search to find a better house for you guys. Ever since you first mentioned Mesa Alta I never got the impression you were 100% sold on it being "the one."
The $8000 being the homebuyers tax credit they'll lose out on.
If you're not a 100% on it then I would pass. I can't remember but wasn't your offer the only one the bank had received?
