Had to share...
my evening grocery store experience.
Me: "Oooh, asparagus!" (secretly thinking, 'It's early for asparagus, but it's been so warm... ') To the produce guy: "Do you happen to know where this asparagus came from? Doesn't say on the label... does it say on the box?"
Produce guy: "Uhh, I'm pretty sure it's from a local... somewhere." (turns box over to reveal huge MADE IN MEXICO sticker) Oh. Hmm.
*facepalm* A "local somewhere"?!?
Sorry. It was funnier in real life. Guess you had to be there?!

lol...definitely not so local to me!
I can't WAIT for asparagus!! They've had South American asparagus a while around here, but it doesn't look that good. The local asparagus is sooo yummy here. I keep thinking about growing it, but you don't get a yield for 3 years! Of course, if I'd just planted it years ago...
I had to pitch a fit at the grocery store yesterday to prevent DH from getting the Mexican asaparagus. I was like, "we'll have awesome asparagus from the Farmer's Market in just a few weeks, just fvcking wait!" I wanted a salad made with local lettuce, but we compromised on broccoli from the U.S.A.
Another annoying grocery store note, I almost bought green beans until I saw the sign said "Product of USA and Mexico" Do you really have to mix them together?!?
