Camping help!

My DH and I are deciding between camping at McKinney Falls or Inks Lake.  Have you been to either?  I haven't been to Inks Lake in a long time and have never been to McKinney Falls.  Any insight would be helpful!

Re: Camping help!

  • I camped a looooong time ago at Inks and the location/site was lovely. Never been to McKinney Falls, though, so no help there. I think you probably can't go wrong with either one!
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • McKinney Falls is a great park. Right now the waterfall is pretty and the flowers are in full bloom.

I haven't been to Inks Lake. Have fun camping!

  • We're going to Inks Laks next week. I've camped both but prefer Inks Lakes because it's less metropolitan.
  • I looooooove inks lake, and this is a great time of year to go out there. Have fun!!!
  • Haven't been to Inks.  Went camping out at McKinney last May and I liked it.  Very good facilities and I liked walking around the trails.  But I don't know if I'd suggest swimming in the swim hole out there.  Not sure what is in the water there but both of my parents ended up getting some sort of rash from the water out there that took forever to go away.  Mom got over it but dad still had some flare up as of January.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions but I'd also look into Pace Bend out on 71.  Went there  few years ago and we were able to get a nice spot overlooking the water.  Not on the water since the lake levels were low but it was nice and relaxing to look out at the water.  Have fun!
