So my husband and I and our wonderful dog are packing up and moving to Lexington April 30th. We have some family up there but other than that we know no one and honestly don't really know too much about the Lexington Area. So does anyone have any good ideas about fun things to do up there??
Re: Moving to Lexington
I moved here last August, so I'm relatively new to the area as well. But, I'd say you're coming at the right time of year because there's a lot going on in the spring and summer. It seems like everyone goes into hibernation in the winter.
Keeneland started this weekend through the end of the month, so you'll just miss that. In the spring/summer, there's Thursday Night Live downtown at Cheapside Park -- bands, beer, vendors, etc. Cheapside Park also hosts a nice farmer's market on Saturday mornings. The Lexington Legends is a minor league baseball team that has "Thirsty Thursdays" ($1 beers/sodas), which are popular. There are a lot of fun bars and restaurants with patios downtown that will be especially nice in the summer as the weather warms up. Plus, there are several wineries in the area that always have special events.
I'm a member of the Lexington Young Professionals Association, which hosts regular events. It's a good organization to get involved in if you're looking to meet new people.
Good luck with your move, and welcome to Lexington!
