No pooers I need some encouragement

I'm in week 3 of no poo...it will be 4 weeks Sunday. The first 1.5 weeks went great and I was loving the whole thing, then it got ugly. I had read up on the transition period and was feeling like I could stick it out, but its taking longer than I thought. My hair is still feeing really weighted down and yucky even right after I shower. Please tell me it's almost over and soon I will realize the lushious locks no poo can bring!

Also, my hair is really tangly after I shower. I have been mostly just letting it do a natural curly/wavy thing but sometimes I like it straight. If I were to buy some detangler to help me get through the mess, would that totally set back what I've worked toward?

  • Are you using 1 tbsp baking soda in 1 cup of water?  during my transition period this wasn't enough.  I used 1.5-2 tablespoons of baking soda.  same with the apple cider vinegar.  I also tend to use more than one cup of ACV/water to fully saturate my hair.  It's really thick and curly.  As far as the detangler goes.....I actually have no idea Stick out tongue if you want to wear it straight, maybe wash it at night and let it air dry, then straighten in the morning?
  • Well I 'no poo" to have better hair, so I buy pre made products.  I use DevaCurl NoPoo, and Giovanni leave in.  Both have great slip I can comb and style easily.  I tried the baking soda ACV thing once and decided it wasnt for me.  I had no slip and I was loosing hair trying to comb.  I add baking soda to the Deva no poo or I use Giovanni 50/50 clarifying shampoo when my hair starts to feel weighted down.

    nothing
  • I honestly read your post thinking you meant you were not going to the bathroom. It took me a while to realize you weren't SHAMpooing.

    I am really slow today

Oh and I am no help, I shampoo and condition everyday

  • My hair is straight and really long. If I'm in a hurry and need to get the tangles out quickly I use a spray bottle with some watered down EF conditioner just on the ends.

Eco-friendliness seems to involve many spray bottes, why not one more! Smile

    For real.

I have had a better time since adding essential oil in the ACV. I also comb it through in the shower, because my hair does tangle a lot. I have also started using more than 1 tsp. of baking soda. i just have a lot of hair.
