anyone tried straw bale gardening?
I have a large raised garden bed (used Mel's SFG ideas), but want to add something new this summer.
I just saw a straw bale veggie garden at my local plant store and it was really cool. i like the idea that I am helping my soil as the straw breaks down and it is sort of like hydroponic gardening in that no real soil is used for the plants. Not as messy, and not as much bending down since the bales are higher off the ground.
Any success stories out there? Words of advice? Tips?
Thanks,
KG
