Weigela - rabbits?

I was taking a stroll around my garden beds today and I noticed that my Weigela - that I just planted last year - looks as if someone has taken pruners to it and clipped off almost every little twig. The cuts are smooth and don't *look* like they have been chewed off, but I am suspecting rabbits. When rabbits chew off twigs, does it look like a smooth angled clip (the same as if you had used pruners)?

This may be a weird question, but I don't want to believe someone has clipped off my plants. That would just be paranoid (I think). But it just seems so strange...plus we have a 6 ft privacy fence and the gates are always locked. It has to be rabbits, right?

Re: Weigela - rabbits?

  • deer. they can hop anything under 9ft, and it will look like someone snipped it with shears. rabbits leave uneven stems, they nibble.
