Where to stay in or near Fargo?
My mom and I have decided to run the Fargo Marathon but I am having an extremely difficult time finding a hotel. I am also open to resorts, b&b's, vacation rentals-pretty much any type of lodging that is clean and comfortable. I have found a room in Detroit Lakes, MN approx an hour away so we will stay there if there is nothing available closer but I was hoping some of you may be able to recommend a small hotel or b&b that is very nice but not listed online (expedia, orbitz, travelocity) because it is not a chain. TIA!

Not a lot of stuff that isn't on the major websites. The HoDo in Fargo is a neat hotel. I don't think the Scandia is a chain but its right next to the hospital and I have no idea what its like. I think Chez Suzanne is still in business, but again no idea what its like. I have stayed at the Acorn B&B east of Detroit Lakes, but that's still a hike for you. I think there's a B&B in Tower City too which is an easier drive the one from DL. There are hotels in Wahpeton, ND too (though again chains) which might be closer than DL for you. The only B&B there is Fairview.
I'm the only NoDaker on this board since its mainly destination wedding ladies so I'll likely be your only response. But if you need more info, please feel free to ask and I'll see what I can do for you.
