Hi ladies!
I am originally from Colorado but am now living just south of Indianapolis. I am wanting to start a small vegetable garden this year as this will be my first gardening experience in this state!
Since I am new to the state, I wanted to see if you ladies have any advice for starting a garden here. What things have you had the most luck with? What should I avoid? Any other tips? I am just afraid that I am really going to mess things up since I am used to working with dry, clay-like soil from back home.
Thanks!
Re: Indiana Gardeners?
Are you just doing a veggie and herb garden, or are you doing flowers too?
We have clay soil here too!
I've had good luck with basil, oregano, and chives. My tomatoes didn't do so well last year, but they usually grow well here in IN.
If you're into flowers, any kind of bulb does good, because we have some harsh winters that give them the freeze they need.
Thanks for the info ladies, I didn't realize there was clay here too, I thought that was a western thing. I want to do a mix of veggies and herbs, but I haven't hammered out what I want exactly.
Thanks again for the info!
