So I went to TH and took care of/helped my mom out after a medical procedure this week and she taught me to knit. I am what you would call very new but I have managed to make a really odd looking pot holder with the promise of improved stuff to come... anyone else knit or I am the only old bitty in the crew?
Re: AW - I can knit!
I can knit, learned when I was like 8 from my mother but I can only knit scarves. My mother however can knit pot holders and socks and my grandmother can knit anything including things with designs in them (such as a cow...)
Fun fact with knitting in my family...we have a saying that if you knit a boy a scarf he will marry you. My Grandmother started this and knitted her boyfriend at the time a scarf and he proposed soon after that, my mother did the same and I knitted my then boyfriend a scarf and I married him as well. This tradition has also worked with a few friends we have encountered along the way, I think we are up to a total of 10 couples that got engaged a few months after the scarf was given and all couples are all still together (except for my Grandma, Grandpa died over 20 years ago).Aww that's a cute story, maroonbell!
I can't knit, but I can crochet a mean dishcloth! I have attention span issues when it comes to creating something larger than that, though.
