Car Insurance?

So, I think there was a post a while back with car ins. companies but I can't remember.

Can you girls recommend yours?

We currently have Allstate but I just called to transfer it from NY to AZ and it DOUBLED!!! We've NEVER had a claim, accident, or ticket so this really pisses me off. I want to change but don't want to pay a ton!

Can you girls help?

TIA!

Re: Car Insurance?

  • arizona is more to insure cars than other states but the 2 companies i recommend and stand by is Farmers or State Farm. Basically they provide the best claims service and have the funds to pay should you ever need them too.

I am also an insurance agent for Farmers and we just lowered rates all over the valley. I don't usually pimp my services out over the nest but if you'd like a really good insurance review I would be happy to help whether or not you use my services plus we could meet for coffee.

at least you went with another good company. the new auto rates went effective 3/15/10 and the lower homeowners rates are effective 4-16-10. the new home policies cover things other companies homeowners don't plus have identity coverage built into the policy. It's the bad boy package out there which no other company has.

  • We've had Geico for 5 years. When we moved here, it went up about $15.00. When we got the new car, I wanted to up our coverage (based on recs from b15chik) and I still got cheaper coverage through geico then any other company (By 50$ or more per 6 months).

I've never had a problem with Geico. They are fast to respond to claims and I love them!!

  • I have and love State Farm!  They're fabulous.  My agent has been my agent for my entire life.  His name is Bob Volman, and he's fabulous!  602-993-6262.

  • We also have geico and I found them to be drastically less then everyone else.  When I moved her from FL my insurance more then doubled so I was happy to get any discount! HTH
  • We have State Farm and love them...we have a discount though because we have our homeowners and cars and everything all rolled into one.

  • Hi, I used to have geico for years, loved their lower rates. I bought a house a few years ago and when I went through geico's service they had my policy through travelers insurance.  However, a year ago I did the insurance shop around and got lower rates on both house and two cars with State Farm. So they're my new insurance peeps. Good luck!

  • We have Farmers and they are great. I did have Geico but their prices are crazy when I tried to add DH to my policy.

  • I have Geico as well and love them.  DH and I have full coverage on both cars and only pay $100 a month.
  • I have geico and back in cali my insurance was $240 a month (no accidents or tickets) for a crappy malibu and when i moved out here it went down to $90 then when i got my eleantra it went down to $84.

  • We've got Geico as well. I shop them out once a year and still haven't found a lower price-- even with USAA, which we have our home insurance through.

I really wanted to go with USAA since we do our banking through them but for the great coverage we got, their rates were SO MUCH higher :-(  We'll look again when we are up for renewal. I always look when my renewal comes up..

Also, keep in mind that your rates will be higher dependant upon what kind of coverage you have...  We have a higher coverage (100,000/300,000) but our deductables are higher as well (1000). We have a 2002 Durango and a 2008 Mazda6 and we only pay 114 a month..

  • Thanks, girls! I will make sure to call around and get quotes from all of these places. We used to have Geico but then changed to Allstate because they gave us a better deal with renter ins and our car but now they are just absolutely ridiculous. They will be losing our business! Sucks for them!!
  • When I spoke with my insurance agent years ago, he told me that in AZ it can also depend on the actual car (like for less obvious reasons).  We had a Chevy Cav and a Lexus IS300- and the insurance was like $60 cheaper on the LEXUS!  My agent said that in AZ, it also depended on how many vehicles like yours were on the road, and how many were involved in accidents.

Don't know if that was just me not hearing him right... or blowing smoke- less inclined to believe the blowing smoke but you never know =)

  • I just changed to Farmers insruance from Allstate and my reates dropped in 1/2.  I really have liked working with Farmers so far and I love the new rates :)

Does Farmers have life insurance too? We currently have our condo insurance and life insurance through Allstate, and we're looking to change. I think we are way overpaying for the life insurance, and I've heard Allstate is bad with homeowners insurance claims.
