I love Italian food. Thinking of making a weekend trip to Nashville and heard of Buca Di Beppo. Is it really that good? Where to stay? Would like to have a nice place to eat/have drinks....
What about Italian food in Memphis?
Any other suggestions?
I am about 2 hours both ways to Memphis and Nashville.
Re: Italian Restaurant
Buca is really good, family style Italian food - big portions, and you can usually find a coupon online or in the Super Saver or Red Plum in the Sunday papers.
It is a chain restaurant, so that's worth mentioning if you don't like "chains".
If we're sticking with strictly Italian food - Valentino's, Demos' (steak & pasta), and Coco's Italian Cafe are all locally owned and very good - Romano's Macaroni Grill, Old Spaghetti Factory, and Maggiano's Little Italy are also excellent, but are chain restaurants.
Actually, if I had my pick of all of those, I'd pick Maggiano's
Do you want to stay in one place and walk to most things? Then you want to stay downtown. Google downtown Nashville hotels - Music Row, West End, Vandy/Belmont areas are all close together and you'll find plenty of places to choose from.
Hello! There is a really good Italian place in Sylvan Park called Cafe Nona. The place is really small and stays busy, so you have to make reservations.
I would stay in the Vandy area because it's just blocks from downtown ($5-$10 cab ride) and the hotel rates are usually a lot cheaper than the places right in downtown.
Sorry, I don't have much info on Memphis.
Buca is ok, just very over priced! I loooove Mama Mias in Nashville on Trousdale off of Harding Place literally 2 seconds from I65. Downtown has a lot of nice hotels and is conveinient if you want to go to bars: Tootsie's, Big Bang, Paradise Park, etc. I loove South St in Nashville...It's New Orleans cuisine set in a bar atmosphere and is really fun!!
Zolo's is veeerrry good!!
I am from NY and have had a heck of a time finding any Italian food that I think is acceptable here. ;-)
However, recently I tried Maggianos and have been very pleased! Both the atmosphere and the food were pretty close to what I'm used to "back home."
