Jumping over from the GA board

Hey everyone,So DH and I have been looking into getting out of Atlanta for some time now and we keep going back to the idea of California. Just wondering if you guys could offer any advice? We have a 2 month old son, Jake and we're looking to live somewhere within 15-20 minutes of the beach, somewhere nice but it doesn't have to be rows of mansions, we'd love to live in a condo/loft but a house in the suburbs would be nice too. Any names of neighborhoods/areas or any other helpful tips you can think of would be great! Thanks!

  • SORRY! I just realized I posted this in the wrong board and it won't let me delete the post---just ignore this! haha :)

  • hey  I recognized you from Atlanta.  We moved down here in July from Atl.  Not a big fan of it down here.  We really miss the big city feel.  Also, Orlando is about 45 mins from the beach.  I probably would like it better if we were closer.  Florida is just not the same as Atlanta.  It's missing the southern charm and hospitality (although the ladies at Publix are a lot nicer down here). Plus there is not really a sense of community or neighborhood here.

Our good friends moved from Atlanta to Redondo Beach in CA (spelling?) and they really like it.  DH and I have said that if we didn't have all our family on the East Coast, we would be in CA in a heartbeat.

  • We moved here from CA about a year ago and like the pp, we are not fans.  CA was so amazing.  You definitely pay for it though.  We actually moved to CA from GA in 2004.  Do you want to live in NorCal or SoCal?  We lived in both and they are both awesome places!  GL!  You may not even read this I guess!
  • Thanks for the replies! I actually was born in FL  myself, Altamont Springs, and outside of visiting my family there, I'm just not a fan...Hopefully we can make it out to the west coast!

  • If you want beaches, your best bet is probably SoCal by the way!  GL!
