I'm on fire today. It's interesting though because even though they are totally unrelated, they all tie in with one another. Please read everything to see to correlation.
I'm sure you heard about the lesbian in MS who's prom got cancelled when she signed up her girlfriend and said she was wearing a tux. But it gets worse, a "prom" was held and she was invited along with 5 other students, including 2 who are mentally challenged. Other parents put on a prom at another location. The fact that the parents have taught their children to be such bigots is beyond me. They singled out 2 groups that they deemed undesireable. The whole thing is like a teen aganst movie.
How can parents especially now adays bully children like this knowing the ramifications that they can cause. Are they not aware of the teens committing suicide from bullies. It's one thing when the kids are bullies it's a whole other ball of wax when it's the parents, who are adults and should know better. Have they no morals?
The second part of this is that there is no coverage of this on major media outlets. I went to CNN, Msnbc, and even Fox to find out info and the only place I could find it was The Advocate (not BR's paper). I'm so disgusted by society right now. Their priorities are too skewed. They would rather know where Tiger Woods and Jessee James placed their penis' then true discrimination affecting all of us. Tiger playing at the Masters this weekend is a bigger story then the mine explosion in WV, people died in WV!!!!
I am sending emails to all of the major networks about this, but if anyone can offer any additional suggestions on whom to contact about this egregious oversight I am thankful in advance.

parents can shock you with their stupidity. And unfortunately, they teach their kids to be idiots too and like you said, it ends up affecting others. I hate this. You'd think people would start getting with the times.

this was at my younger cousin's school. i need to get the full scoop from them to find out what went on. it's usually a few select morons that make the whole school/county/parish/city look bad.
have you seen morgan freeman's documentary on HBO? there was a school in either MS or AL that still had segregated proms, and he offered to pay all expenses if the students wanted to have one prom, and they did - but there were a handful of parents that still put on a separate one that most kids didn't attend.
I have not heard of that documentary. I can't believe that people still act in such a manner. It's atrocious.

FULTON, Miss. ? Constance McMillen and her girlfriend made it to the ?prom? over the weekend. Only seven other students showed up at the dance Friday night at Fulton Country Club, according to several reports. This morning, word is leaking out that most of Constance?s classmates at Itawamba Agricultural High School (IAHS) attended a ?secret? prom to which she and her girlfriend were not invited. This morning, SDGLN contacted the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) headquarters in New York trying to verify Internet gossip that the country club ?prom? was nothing more than a ruse to keep Constance and her girlfriend from the ?real prom.? ?We don?t know for sure whether it was a ruse. But I can tell you for sure that the event that the school had said was the prom for all juniors and seniors at IAHS was very sparsely attended and there was only a handful of other IAHS students there while Constance was there. it wasn't my cousin... i just found out about it when my family was in town in February when my aunt mentioned that prom at Luke's school was cancelled... then when I heard about it on the news I put two and two together.
the documentary was interesting.... the kids all wanted one prom, it was the parents who threw such a pantywadding hissyfit.
