I did something dumb today.

I ordered a few movies from Amazon over the weekend and they arrived today!  I live in an apartment, and our mailbox is too small for a package, so they left it in a "parcel locker" and put the locker key in my mailbox.

I was so excited to open the locker that I didn't notice it had two keyholes... one brand-new and shiny, the other one rusted-out and built to fit a key twice the size of the one in my hand.

So of course I tried to use the old and busted keyhole. The key slid in and even turned partway... before breaking off in the lock! 

Now I have to put the broken half-key back in my mailbox with a note asking our postal carrier to leave me another one.  Let me tell you, trying to phrase that note in a way that doesn't make me sound like a dumba$$ is not easy!  Plus I have to wait another day for my movies... lesson learned.

In other news, I never did hear back from the shady condo lady in Chicago.  I know, shocker, right?!   But I have a new one lined up, so it worked out just fine.  BIG props to everyone who read through that entire vent!

Booo!  That sux!

I know the feeling though.  While I have never had that happen to me, I did have our parcel locker key get stuck because it was either bent or something so I had to leave a note to have the postman jimmy it back out and leave it on my doorstep

LMAO I've done that before. Well, not with a parcel locker, but with a regular door. In my defense, the key DID fit into the lock and even turned part way, but then snapped off. Whoops.

You should have wrote the note to the mailman starting off with 'I did something dumb today...', he would probably would have laughed!
