Spring Cleaning checklist
Help me add things to my list. What do you try to tackle when you think of a good deep cleaning?
- Organize closets (goodwill donations & put away winter clothes)
- get carpets professionally cleaned
- mop hardwoods & scrub tile floors & showers
- dust/clean blinds & baseboards
- windows
- organize clutter areas (cabinets and junk drawers)
- clean out & wipe down fridge & pantry
Re: Spring Cleaning checklist
The concept of spring cleaning amuses me. There's no way a mass amount of cleaning like that will happen in my house, I'm not that inspired/motivated.
But in the spirit of the items you've listed, I imagine you might want to dust off ceiling fans & light fixtures too. And wipe down spots on the wall where your dog rubs (like walls along stairs) and around switches that are frequently touched.
Change air filters, check batteries in weather radios and fire alarms.
Wash curtains and guest bedding.
Pressure Wash decks, restain/seal. Clorox patio furniture and bring out.
Clean dryer filter with soap and brush to clean off static waxy build up from softeners.
Check fire extinguishers
check a/c drainage hose to make sure there aren't any back ups
Check a/c system drain pan and clean so mildew and mold do not build up
clean baseboards
though like terp, there's no mass cleaning in my house. hell would have to freeze over, i hate cleaning and while DH likes it, he doesn't like it that much. this stuff gets done randomly throughout the year.
This is exactly how I feel too. We will be moving in June, so our apartment will get deep cleaned as we leave (in order to get our deposit back). Hopefully this deep cleaning will be done by my mom and mother in law haha!
I was actually thinking about making a poll for this topic--I was wondering if anyone still actually did a big "spring clean" anymore. Like the others, Dh and I will do our best to keep things rotated throughout the year--rarely do we just spend one weekend cleaning--though we surely could use it.
I like all the things mentioned--the only extra thing that I might add on to the "windows" cleaning is to also make sure to wipe down the sashes/moulding as well. I know mine always get very dusty/dirty--especially if you have newer windows that don't have storm windows. That could be implied, but for me, I'd add it as an extra "tick" on my list.

I had actually found a really good cleaning checklist awhile back and it had a pretty good list for both fall and spring.
Here are the items listed for spring:
I can email it if anyone would like to have a copy.
