Visiting KC

We are going to a Royals game.    Are there any decent hotels around the stadium?   What would you suggest a couple with a 9 month old do for fun?

TIA!

Re: Visiting KC

  • Hi Smiles!

I would personally suggest to stay in Independence or Downtown KC. I think there are a couple of hotels around the stadium but if I remember correctly there's not really a lot to do OTHER then the stadium. (When I go to the games it's to do just that, then go home so I'm not completely positive.)

If you stay in Independence there is a mall and lots of restaurants. (I just go to Independence for the mall, Coldstone and Fazoli's really so I don't really know a lot around there - maybe someone from that area can tell you more).

If you stay downtown (where I live) there's the River Market, Plaza, P&L District, Westport. All of these have neat shopping and places to eat during the day but that's where everyone goes to go out at night also. The P&L is brand new to KC and is right across the street from the Sprint arena. There are also lots of museums and exhibits downtown if that interests you. My favorite Mexican restaurant is Manny's downtown. If you like Mexican definitely go there and have the monterey chicken burrito!

Up north, closer to the airport, is Zona Rosa that, again, is shopping and restaurants but is very neat looking and fun to walk around. It has a lot of the same stores as the Plaza but I'm not quite as scared I'm going to get run over up there :)

If you REALLY want to venture out Legend's is super cool. It's about 20ish minutes west of downtown. Again, shopping and restaurants. But it's an upscale outlet mall with stores like Tommy Hilfiger, BCBG, Gap, Banana Republic, and several kids clothing stores to name a few.

There is some stuff down south also but in my opinion nothing that really stands out as a 'must see'. My family is from Olathe and they are always coming to me to shop and eat out and stuff. Although, Town Center is very nice.

I'm happy to send you links to anything you'd like. Have a great time!

    Crystal
