Recipe for Oil Cleansing and No Poo?
I'm going to switch to oil cleansing at night. Can you share your recipes for what you use? I'm pretty excited to try this!
I also want to start No Poo once I use up my shampoo. Can you ladies share your recipes for this, too? Also, should I continue to use my conditioner while I no poo?
Re: Recipe for Oil Cleansing and No Poo?
OCM should depend on your skin type. I have oily, acne prone skin, and my recipe is this: 50% castor oil and 50% grapeseed oil (although I will be trying jojoba oil next) and after I pour the amount I use in my hand, I add 5 drops of tea tree oil.
For No Poo, I use 1.5 Tbsp baking soda to 1 cup water and then I use 2 Tbsp ACV to one cup of water. Again, these recipes are dependent on what type of hair you have. Mine tends to be on the oily side, so I've upped the measurements. Most recipes call for 1 Tbsp of baking soda or ACV to one cup of water.
I did not continue to use conditioner once I started No Poo. Maybe once a month I deep condition with an olive oil mask, but that's about it!
Hope that helps!
I've always interpreted No Poo to mean baking soda and vinegar, or only using conditioner. I wasn't a fan of the baking soda and vinegar (I used to let my hair dry and would smell the vinegar until it was dry).
But I did do Conditioner-Only (CO) for a few years and loved it!
I just washed my hair normally each day, but used conditioner instead of shampoo. People usually suggest using something super cheap, like VO5 of Suave, but I didn't care for the ingredients. I think I usually used Organix vanilla because it worked really well for my hair.
Have you checked out the longhaircommunity.com website? They're a little crazy, but they do things like CO & No Poo and have huge threads about it.
I found this site helpful for oil cleansing -

GL! I have absolutely loved it - I do 10% castor and 90% olive oil
