What do you think? Which model did you get?
Re: Who bought an iPad?
DH and I are HUGE Mac fans and we were thrilled to visit an Apple store and play with an iPad yesterday. especially after one of his buddies got one and LOVES it.
It's a cool piece of machinery. Operates very smooth, very user friendly and fun.
That being said, it's not for me. It's almost a glorified iPhone. It would be awkward to use because you need something to prop it up if you want to use both hands to type. It just feels awkward for me to use.
I also have a MacBook and an iPhone, so I wouldn't have much need for it.
So, in short: Awesome machine! But not for me
I did!
Unfortunately, I have to wait until my trip to the US next week to pick it up.
We went with the 16GB WiFi-only model, because we figure we'll put the extra money towards the next gen and then let DH have this one as an e-reader. Once I've had it for a while, I'll figure out whether I would carry it around enough to warrant the 3G.
I'm one of the few people who think the iPad fills a perfect niche for my life. My pockets are way too small to carry an iPhone, so the idea of getting a bigger phone is not appealing to me. Since I'd have to carry an iPod touch in my purse anyway, it's nice to have more screen real estate and functionality. And I have a good laptop, for handling computing tasks, so the idea of buying a netbook with a fully-fledged OS wasn't very appealing either. Voila! iPad is perfect for me!
Sadly, now that my digital camera bit the dust on our last vacation and I'll be moving up, I'm thinking that 16GB isn't going to get me very far, because I'd like to use it as a backup when for pictures when we travel. Especially since the camera connector is supposed to accept SD cards! Can't wait to get my hands on that, but it's slated for the end of the month.
