Moving To Huntsville AL

My hubby and I are moving to Huntsville in the near future. I know that it is extremely early to look at houses but I am very interested in looking into what areas and neighborhoods of Huntsville are new, growing and maybe where alot of the younger families are starting to settle. Any help or suggestions would be great!

 Thanks!

Re: Moving To Huntsville AL

  • I would say look in Madison. It is right outside of Huntsville and has a lot a great areas. Also, the school systems are great there. www.valleymls.com is a great resource for once ou start looking for houses. HTH
  • We're in "Owens Crossroads" off of Taylor Road and there's a lot of younger families and reasonably priced homes.  It takes me about 25 minutes to get to work on the arsenal and there's a few restaurants just a couple miles away.  They are almost done with an elementary school right around the corner and kids would go to Hampton Cove Middle and Huntsville High School.
  • Thank You so much for the help. We have been looking in madison as we were told that was the place to go. Thanks again!

  • Where is your neighborhood in comparison to madison county or close to the city of huntsville? I myself would like to live out of the city and then commute. We will be opening up a chiropractic clinic and will be looking for areas either in or out of the city.

     Thanks Again!

  • Our neighborhood is closer to Huntsville.  It would take around 10-30 minutes to go somewhere in Huntsville vs. 45-60+ for Madison.  Our water and power is supplied by Huntsville City.  If y'all end up opening a chiropractic clinic close by, let me know!

I'm not on this board much anymore but I wanted to say that I live right on the county line of Madison/Limestone and it only takes me 15 minutes to get to downtown Huntsville.  We are looking to move into Madison though or to the outskirts and be actually in Madison County...the schools are great in both Madison City and Madison County..we are looking at Monrovia.  Like a PP said valleymls is a great resource.  There are several Huntsville ladies over on the AL babies board that can also give you some insight as well.  Good luck :)

  • I was going to suggest Madison as well.  I live on the Madison/Huntsville line (literally you drive a block down my road and your in Madison) and it takes me 15 minutes to get to South Memorial Pkwy, and about 7 minutes to get onto University.

  • Madison is a really good area and also where we live is starting to grow a lot and it is actually surprisingly close to downtown. We live over Chapman Mountain just past the city/county line and we love it. We found our house through valleymls, as the others have said and they have improved the site since we bought, so now you can see the houses on the map. We chose our area because it is close to DH's work, so you might consider where you plan to work and how far the commute might be.
  • If you want to live outside of the city, look into Toney, Harvest, Monrovia, Meridianville, and Hazel Green. These are in Madison County....depending how far out in the county you go, you could be looking anywhere between 15-45 min commutes.  There are some very nice communities and affordable houses in these towns.
  • I just bought a house in Toney.  I work on the Arsenal and it takes me about 30 minutes to get to work.

  • Thanks so much for the info. We actually looked at your area and I really like it. I live in valleymls right now and prob will till move at the end of the year. I found that bridge street center but will have to do that on our next trip back there.

Do you know any downtown high rise apartments??
