We moved here in the end of Febuary and the 2nd week we gotten settle we seeded our back yard with grass
In the middle of March not much progess so we decided to seed in the middle of March..
Above this picture was taken in April 7th which is not much progess and still not alot of grass..any suggestions?
Re: Our Backyard Progess
What type of seed did you put down? Is it a good choice for your area? What's the germination time on that type?
Are you watering daily for a short while? You want shallow, not deep, water while you're establishing a lawn so the seeds can access it.
Did you put down a fertilizer with it? Like this.
Is your soil compacted? If so, did you have it aerated and tilled before you seeded?

At first we did rake up all the dirt and use a fertizer and seeded with Kentucky Blue grass and than a couple of weeks later we seeded with Scotts Bermada grass later finding out that Kentucky Blue grass will die in zone 8. Watering usally once a week since dogs will refuse to use the restroom other than the backyard strange. Our soil i think sand so they could lay the foundation down but other than that im not sure..its growing but in spots.
.
Forget the bluegrass since that was the wrong seed and just count from mid-March. Read this PDF. Bermudagrass seed doesn't germinate until the soil reaches 65 degrees and is most often planted in May and June. I don't know how warm it is there yet, but our soil here probably isn't that warm yet.
To establish a lawn, you MUST water every single day. No exceptions, no excuses; you'll have to just walk your dogs. I'm gonna say this again: you must water every day.
If you water shallowly every day and the seeds are raked to a 1/4 inch depth, your seeds should germinate in about a week.

we just re-seeded part of our yard last year... check the pH there are kits that you can get.
watering everyday is only needed when it dries out everyday. if the ground is still saturated watering will do nothing for it.
you should not fertilize until you have an established yard- meaning you wont be fertilizing until fall.
