Chicago Nestie visiting Nashville and need suggestions!
Hi!
We are visiting Nashville for a wedding september for 4 days and were hoping for some suggestions on what to do/where to visit! I have a 10 month old, so definitely looking for kid friend activities.
I found a nice vacation home in Baxter (says 70 miles from Nashville) and another one about 20miles from Nashville. As local residents which one would you go for? And any good local restaurants? Activities?
Any suggestions would be appreciated! It's our first visit and we are super excited!
TIA
Elizabeth

I don't think that I would stay 70 miles outside of the city. The less driving you have to do the more things you can visit. I'd stay in a downtown hotel.
If I were a tourist I'd visit The Parthenon in Centennial Park, The Belle Meade Plantation, The Hermitage, The Country Music Hall of Fame, and might go by the Opryland Hotel.
Sunday Brunch at Loew's Vanderbilt Hotel is really good.
Hope this helps!
Humm. . . . well, your talk of vacation homes outside the city make me wonder exactly what you're looking for . . . if you can provide a little more insight, I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas! Do you know where exactly the wedding and activities will be?
If you're planning on spending time in the city I definitely would consider staying more in town. . . we don't really have great public transit or anything, so I say stay near where you're wanting to spend your time . . . . but there's definitely tons to do, and there's lots of moms on here whom I'm sure will have great kid-friendly ideas!
If you're downtown on Saturday early afternoon and looking for a good kid friendly activity - the downtown public library hosts a free marionette show in their beautiful children's theatre on the 2nd floor:

The library is really gorgeous and the kids' section is wonderful - so it's worth going in, even if you don't go to the marionette show. ??The other 2 things I can think of downtown for kids are really more fun for kids who can walk (not sure if yours can yet?) - but I'll mention them anyway:
1. a walk around the Bicentennial Mall and Farmer's Market
2. A visit to the Public Square in front of the Nashville Courthouse - my girls love the wading pools and fountains?
Baxter is too far if you want to enjoy Nashville.
We have a good zoo that would be great the the young one.
You should try to check out some live music somewhere, perhaps the Bluebird Cafe. Live music here really cant be beat - there is so much talent in this city.
Check out nashvillescene.com for events on the days you will be in town. There could be some good festivals etc going on.
