Anyone from Andover...

My hubby and I are thinking about moving to the Andover, KS area and I was just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the area? Anywhere around there thats within a good driving distance of Wichita really, preferably less populated.

Re: Anyone from Andover...

  • I am not from Andover (though I've lived in Wichita all my life), but Andover is a great town. Andover is a suburb of Wichita, so in a sense isn't "too" populated, but it's definately growing fast- they have two public high schools, and will probably be building a 3rd in the next 5 years. I currently live in a suburb west of Wichita, Goddard, and it's the fastest growing suburbs in KS. I can get to the downtown district in about 12 minutes. The good thing about Wichita, is that you can get from one side to the other in less than 30 minutes- even if you live in a sub.?
If you are looking at any subs with good driving distance to Wichita, it's pretty much all of them: Maize, Goddard, Mulvane, Augusta (it's near Andover) Valley Center... they all have great schools and communities.?

Hopefully I answered some of your questions-- feel free to e-mail me at Jhawks482@gmail.com if you have any more questions!?

  • I live in Andover and absolutely love it - I am still very close to Wichita, it takes hubby 20 min to get to work and he works in Wichita. Andover is considered to have the best schools in Wichita area. The houses are newer and the lots are bigger, which means you'll get a lot more privacy. We just moved here from Madison, WI in May and were looking for a new home with a large yard for our dogs. We've looked at many areas: Goddard, Augusta, Maize. Andover was the best fit as far as distance to Wichita and availablity of nicer homes. If you have any questions you can e-mail me at lidia911@gmail.com
  • I lived off of Central for several years on a street called Ridgehurst.  It's technically in Wichita, but it's in the Andover school district.  The schools are great (my SIL used to teach there).  It's a nice little community and easy to breeze on in to Wichita (you don't even really notice where it ends and where Wichita begins).  You could also look at Derby (where I grew up) and Belle Plain.

Goddard is booming as is August and Maize.  Mulvane is ok.  Rosehill is a great little community as well, but a little further.

  • I'm from Newton, about 10-15 north of Wichita... I attended Butler Community College there a few years ago. I really liked the town. It's a very growing community. It's close to Wichita but yet not exactly the "big city living". Being close to Wichita is super convenient for all the shopping and restaurants.

    Good luck on the move!!!

  • wichita has AMAZING shopping! I'm in lawrence, though so I go to KC instead
