Hello Everyone,
I have made a commitment to going green, but I do it slowly. I make one change, the once it becomes a habit I make another change. This helps me from being overwhelmed by the process. I use this board for inspiration a lot when I am ready to make a switch. So basically I am introducing myself, but I'm not sure how often I'll post.
I have been reading a lot of post about Charlie's Soap and checked it out online. It suggest running an empty load once to clean the washing machine of any particles of other detergents. My question (admittedly is dumb) is does this matter? I ask because I use a laundry-mat so this isn't possible. I have sensitive skin, or I would probably just go for it without asking. TIA for any input.
Re: Charlie's Soap and Laundry-mats?
hey, nice to meet you! i don't have the answer to your charlie's soap question, i'm planning on making the switch too, but i'm using up my old stuff first before i clean out my machine and only use charlie's.
just wanted to recommend changing your subject line to something mentioning charlie's soap users, so the gals who use it will come in and give you your answer. good luck!
I don't actually know what a laundry mat is.
However, I used to use my Charlie's Soap when we lived in an apt and used the communal washers and dryers. I wouldn't run an empty load before that--it would have cost $$$$.
I think the "run an empty load" thing is just so that you aren't disappointed when your first load isn't as soft (or as naturally clean). If you are prepared for that, then I don't think you need to worry. I don't use fabric softener at all, and no one would know it because my clothes do come out so soft.
