Local Meat/Poultry

Does anyone buy chicken and/or beef from a local farmer around town (preferably nashville or a bit south)?

I am not wanting to buy meat at the grocery store anymore, even Whole Foods and want local, pasture raised chickens.  The guy who I get a lot of my produce from is sold out for the year already :(

Re: Local Meat/Poultry

  • There's a place by my parents in Franklin near the McKay's Mill subdivision that advertises selling whole and half cows. Don't know if you might be interested in that.

DH and I order our beef from this family, the Gunns. They deliver in and around Nashville once or twice a week. We usually get their burgers and filets. WONDERFUL. And so adorable, the owner, Josh, delivers the packages in his pickup truck and his border collie in the back. Highly recommended.

P.S. If you want to combine orders, let me know. Sometimes we have a hard time getting up to 10lbs and talk about splitting it with another couple.

  • C & F Meats on Highway 96 East near my house has all local meat....and all types. I get a lot of my stuff from there. They even have Buffalo, Beefalo, Venison, etc...

    ?

A side of beef would end up costing you somewhere in the neighborhood of maybe $1600 & probably last you a year...maybe. But you also need to have a deep freezer to store it in.

    ?

If you go to College Grove Grocery, which is straight down on Hwy 31 South, you can buy meat there from Paradigm Farms....they are clients of mine & their grass-fed beef is excellent! ?
