Shingles What shingles?

Man, this wind (classic prairie wind, I might add) is insane! Gusts around 90km/hr mean a sad day around my neighbourhood. Brand new houses without shingles! I lost a bunch, so did all my neighbours. I lost siding and a whole glass panel from my deck railing! Woe is me...

Re: Shingles What shingles?

  • holy crap!

Last fall our neighbour's siding came loose in a windstorm and smashed into our house. I was so freaked out, it sounded like a gunshot. We have this nice dent and black mark where it hit.

  • The damage in the city is bad. They even shut down areas of the downtown because the wind was ripping loose pieces of highrises and there was concern for safety of folks on the street. Crazy, even for Sask! Our siding is concrete (Hardie Board) and is quite heavy, it smashes when it hits the ground so I have a bit of a mess on my driveway. I am just glad that no one was hit by a piece! From what I can see of my roof an overhangs, what shingles remain will likely have to be replaced, they're all ripped and curled up. Yeesh.
  • I heard it was nuts today in the gine! A friend said he saw 2 light poles blow right over. Everyone seemed to lose shingles. That is nuts even for sask! No tree cover to block the wind!
