My Food Blog
I have done 1/2ass gardening the past 2 years...just sticking some tomatoes or zucchini in the ground and them not being very productive...
This year we put in a 12x24' bed. Just finished tilling yesterday and are putting up the fence today! We are doing it for real this year
My first year with my own garden, but my mom's been at it for like 60 years.
I'm looking forward to finally having enough space to grow whatever I want.
This will be my 5th veggie garden, and I said just starting out, bc I am certainly no pro!
I just throw stuff in the ground, and see if it grows. I should really take the time to read an organic gardening book bc probably I could improve my garden a lot if I took the time to learn more.
We bought our house last August, so this is our first year with a garden. Our next door neighbor is a chef and has had a garden for 9 years, so he's going to help us out.
We are building raised beds next weekend, and we're planting:
basil
watermelon
strawberries
Roma tomatoes
lettuce
green beans
spinach
So excited!
My Lunch Blog
We've been gardening for a few years, adding something new ever year. The first year in our current home we tore up and replanted the front yard, and that lived! Following year we did cherry tomatoes and several types of herbs in pots, they did great. This past fall we did spinach and arugula in our first raised bed, they did okay but it got too cold too quickly. This summer we put in a second bed, and are doing a very ambitious veggie garden. I hope it all works out!
Started indoors:
2 types of tomatoes, 2 types of peppers, and eggplant
Already direct-sowed outside:
Onions, carrots, sugar snap peas, english peas, and spinach
Will be planted outdoors in a few weeks:
Cucumber, green beans, herbs, and the seedlings we started indoors.
I voted gardening pro.
We've had a very large veggie garden for 4 years now, though I've been gardening since I was a kid.
I've taken courses with our local Extension in their master gardening program, the watershed initiative and other workshops at area nurseries.
