if the stores are selling herbs and veggie flats, are they OK to buy and keep outside?
if the stores are selling herbs and veggie flats, are they OK to buy and keep outside? I am not going to put them in the ground yet. I am not ready to buy veggie plants yet. But I wanted to buy the herbs and put them in this herb tower that I am making that I saw in
Martha Stewart Living. The herbs must be sitting out a night at the farm stand stores right? or maybe they move them inside? they are out there all day though and they look fine. thoughts? I am just north of Boston, MA if that matters. last year I didn't plant until after Mothers day. But that was in my raised bed. but I felt that it was slim pickens when I went to finally buy and want to buy now since there are so many selections right now. I don't have a grow light or anything to use if I bring them inside. TIA!

My Food Blog
oh awesome!!! I just bought the pots last night. I was iffy on the sizes to buy but I think I chose well, I hope!!! I am eager to fill it up right now!
I would be nervous to do that just yet. My kitchen table is currenly covered in tomato plants and cukes.
I think overnight they wheel them in or drape the racks.
I don't think it means they're safe to plant yet.
I found this calendar handy:

I just adjust for the last frost date for my area. (You can google that.)
I'm in CO and just put up walls of water today and will transplant my tomatoes in a couple of days.
In the past, I've bought early for the reasons you said. Sometimes by the time planting season is here in June, I can't find the varieties I want. If I see what I want, I'll get it and just watch the temps but I don't plant them. If a frost is coming, I'll either bring them inside or put the plants up on my patio and cover them with either a sheet or plastic.
