Toga Party?

DH and I want to have a dinner party with Greek food (he is Greek).  We are late 20s and our friends are all late 20s to late 30s.  Are we too old for a toga party?

Re: Toga Party?

  • No way!! Go for it...
  • Definitely not.

I've wanted to throw one of these, but I know my friends would groan. H's friends might be for it though.

  • I'm usually never against anything that involves a reason to party.  But really, I think it would depend on your crowd.  My friends love to get together and love hosting people at their house.  We're mostly late 20s / early 30s, and I don't know that anyone would like to dress up in togas.  Just my 2cents.  I think it really depends on your friends.  If they're game - go for it.... sounds like lots of fun and the party will surely provide great photo ops.  GL!
  • No way!  Our group is late 20s to early 30s and we did a toga party for labor day.  It was a lot of fun.  I even came up with "Olympic games" to play!  Have a good time!!
  • You're never too old to toga!

With that in mind, PP were right when they said it depends on your group of friends.  We're friends with this couple who are always throwing parties and BBQs and they have a great group of fun-loving friends.  Their toga party was great!  People came in wearing some great sheets--Hawaiian print, Playboy bunny print, camo, etc.  I'm afraid that if my hubby and I tried to do the same thing, it would be a major FAIL.

  • Maybe you could stress creativity in the sheet choices for the togas?  & I would def. offer a dressing room/area for guests since many may not want to travel to & from the party in costume.
