Seeds going in the ground this week!

Finally!  I've been waiting since February!

Some time this week/weekend we'll be planting carrots, peas, radishes, spinach and chard.

Anyone else planting stuff this week?

ETA: I'm Zone 5a

Re: Seeds going in the ground this week!

  • I've already put some veggies in containers.  I'm in zone 6b.  Our temps last week were in the 80's & 90's and dropped to the 60's by Fri and the weekend and so far all my seedlings are doing well.

    Here are my seedlings/transplants:
Tomato (unknown from last year's crop)
    Eggplant
    Chard
    Sugar snap peas
    Squash
    Cucumber

  • My garden update - the bareroot strawberries were a BUST. I bought new plants from the nursery.

Tomato and pepper plants are already in the SFG! Yay! My spinach FINALLY took off, and I will be harvesting romaine leaves for salad this week.

My seed-started lettuce seedlings are adjusting fairly well.

My potted strawberry plant (it was planted last year) is BURSTING with blooms. My daughter and I are so excited. She counts all the strawberry blooms and gives me an update. LOL

I'm trying to be patient with my cosmos seeds. They've not sprouted yet. I direct sowed them and some zinnia seeds. The zinnia seedlings sprouted quickly!

My herb seeds have not sprouted in my pots yet either. I'm beginning to think I just really suck at seed starting. :(

  • This weekend I planted a strawberry plant and a basil plant in containers. I also purchased a blueberry bush (?) but the tag says it will grow to 5' x 5', so the spot I was going to put it in will not work. I spent the rest of the day staking out a spot that's sunny enough for it. I think it's going in the front yard this weekend.
  • I have to stop reading here until June.  It makes me too jealous.  My table is covered in cukes and tomatoes but I won't put them outside for a good 6 weeks.
