Nike +

tell me about Nike +.  I think that I want to try this out, but I am confused as to how it works and what I need?  Do I have to buy special shoes, or can I get the 'system' and it work with my shoes I already have?  Also, if I buy the nike + shoes, do I still need to get the 'system' to go with it?

I am going to be at work from now till 10pm, I will red the responses when I get home!  thanks!

Re: Nike +

  • i'm not kidding when i say it's the best $30 i've spent EVER in my running "career".

you don't have to have the nike shoes, you can get a pouch on amazon to hold the sensor.

basically, you go to a track, run a mile and calibrate the ipod/nike+.  after that, you can set your workouts based on distance, time or calories burned.  then you set your music.

if you're going, say, 3 miles, a voice will come on and say that you're half way there, then every 100m starting at 400m to go.  on your longest workouts or fastest paced workout, you'll get a "celebrity" telling you that it's your longest/fastest.

it tracks your distance, start time, end time, total run time, calories burned and pace.

ITA! It's a great little device.

Ditto on getting a pouch. The nike+ shoes might not work for you. I still wear my asics and I have the censor attached to my right foot with the pouch. It seems to work just fine

  • I've been running w/ one since January & love it. I bought this pouch to attach it to the top of my Asics & that's worked out great.
