Trade vegetable plants

Does anyone know of a good way to trade vegetable plants? I have 5 jalapeno plants in containers and I really don't need all of them, so I'd like to trade them with someone within driving distance for some other plants that I may need.

I've looked on craigslist, not much up there, but it's just the start of spring. Does anyone know of any other resources?

TIA!

Re: Trade vegetable plants

  • freecycle.  I'd also try your local board to see if there are any gardeners there.
  • I thought about freecycle, but I don't think they would allow trade, at least my chapter. I could just give them away and post a wanted.

Thank for the local board idea! i didnt even think of that!

You can also look for garden clubs in your area.  I'm in my local club; I don't attend any meetings, but I'm in the Yahoo group, I get all the e-mails and I send e-mails for trades sometimes.  I just got a fig tree in exchange for some strawberry plants and tomato seeds.

mine doesn't allow for trades either, but last year people were posting offers of excess seedlings and some posted wanted too.  it doesn't hurt to ask!
