Coconut Oil users-moisturizer question

Since TSA took my  face lotion (it was in a 5 oz. bottle but less than half was left and they refused to let me board with it.) I figure I'd give something else a try since my skin has been really dry lately. I have virgin coconut oil for my body lotion (I have horribly dry skin, and this works good but not great...but it's the best green "lotion" I found so far) and wondering how it would do on my face. If you have tried it on you face, do you like it? I'm worried it will make me break out-any issues?

Thanks!

Re: Coconut Oil users-moisturizer question

  • Yeah, that whole its only part full thing doesn't work at all. :) Sorry.

Well I cleanse with coconut oil. I wouldn't put it on and just leave it. You put it on, rub it around, put a warm washcloth over until it cools, wipe off.

  • I'd probably do it kind of like Alisha would.  Smear a bunch on and then blot off any extra after a few minutes.

Trying to figure out exactly how much coconut oil to scoop out to moisturize your face sounds like hard work because it would probably take such a small amount.  I've used it on my hair to smooth frizzies, and a scoop the size of a pencil eraser made my hair look day old but completely unable to hold any curl - and that's when it was long.

  • I use coconut oil to moisturize after I do the regular OCM. I have really really dry skin and doing only OCM was not enough for me. I've never had any problems breaking out after moisturizing with coconut oil (but then again, I hardly ever break out)
  • I use coconut oil to cleanse. There is a little left on afterward, but I don't feel that it's enough to completely replace my moisturizer. Though, it has reduced my usage.
