So I blogged a little about this in my new blog this am, but I am miserable. I'm on the pill and I feel like a freakin' maniac. My body is so irregulated (word?) lately, I hate the side effects, I just wanna cry (and I do) all the time... I talekd to my dr. but she told me to hang on 2 more weeks til I start a new pack... I can't imagine living two more weeks in this state of being... arrrrrrgh... I wanna be a happy newlywed!!!!!! Anyone else having issues with their BC??
Re: I hate my Birth Control
I mentioned to H that I wanted to go off my BC because off side effects I'm having (little drive) but I know that it's not best for me to do so because I'm on Seasonique because of the problems I have with my period. Also, it's the only form of BC we use as other methods hurt me and it's more painful to use them verses me just dealing with the minor side effects of my current BC. I do admit I cannot wait to be off it when we decide the time is right to begin a family.
I had horrible issues with Mircette. I was emotionally a mess, would get nasty migraines and was just out of control. The doctor told me to try taking it at night instead of the morning and to stick it out.
After a month though I stopped and started a new kind. Good luck!
I was on ortho-cyclen for 13 years, and it REALLY messed up my body.
I started having menopausal symptoms, was puffy, emotional all the time.
In October I was near my breaking point, and after taking a hormone panel test, it showed that I have negative levels of progesterone due to artifically tweaking it over the years. If a normal person's range is 50-300 (150 being optimal), mine was -2.
I have been on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for the last few months...my periods are almost regular again and I'm not crashing like I used to. If you do HR, do bio-identical (made from plants, and available at "compounding"/natural pharmacies. Do not go on Premarin or any kind of hormone therapy made from pregnant mare's urine. Those hormones are a totally different genetic makeup and have been linked to lots of female cancers.
if you are on hormonal BC (i.e. Depo or the pill), don't stay on for more than 2 years at a time.
As far as BC...we're just being very very careful, and I think I may get fitted for a diaphragmn this month (since it's my annual obgyn anyway)
I hope you feel better...message me if you have any questions
Me too! I was on it for 7 years and just went off of it in September. I had forgotten my pills at home when I was leaving for a vacation, I felt wonderful after not taking them for a week and a medical condition I had been dealing with suddenly was 100 times better after not being on the pill (I have vaso vagal syncope which is worse with nausea, the pill made me nauseous in the mornings almost every day). We decided it was best for me not to go back on the pill and have been using other protective measures. We are not "trying" to start a family right now but would not be upset if it happened.

I tried Ortho-something as my first-ever pill and thought I was going to die. I was MISERABLE! I started bleeding uncontrollably and couldn't function. I had a really hard time staying on it for the month my ob/gym said I couldn't shorten.
I switched to a lower-dose option and after a few more trials, found a brand I'm happy with.
Maybe this isn't the right pill for you? I think I took 4 or 5 brands before finding one that worked well and kept me sane with tolerable monthly cycles.
I used to be on the pill in college and it was hard to remember when to take them and I didn't like all the side effects either. The 2nd time I started doing bc again a lot of my coworkers were using the nuva ring. I tried it out and loved it! I used it for a little over a year. Although it does seem kind of weird going from pills to inserting a rubber ring, the dosage of hormones is much lower so the side effects were less. I work an alternating day/night cycle so it was nice to not have to worry about taking a pill at the same time every day just to have the protection. and I don't know if this is TMI, but when DH and I were intimate, he said although he could feel the ring at times, it didn't hurt him, since its really flexible (I could never feel it once I put it in). So if pills don't seem to be working for you, you may want to ask about alternatives. We wanted to start a family soon after getting married and stopped using the ring at the beginning of the year and are now pregnant. So good luck! and hope you're feeling better soon.
