Hershey Question

Hi Ladies,
A Pgh Nestie here with some questions.  I want to take my DH to Hershey for his 30th B-day in July.  I want to do all of the typical Hershey stuff, including the theme park, and wondered if you all had any recommendations on where to stay.  I'd love something a little different than the typical Comfort Inn, but wondered if the Hotel Hershey was worth the price.  Any B&B's you would suggest?  A jacuzzi/spa tub in the room would be a nice touch, but isn't a must.  I'd love to hear any suggestions on what to do, where to go, or any insider tips.

Thanks so much!

DenaLea

Re: Hershey Question

  • Conewago Manor Inn is the first B&B that I think of but that might be pricey too.

The Hershey lodge is nice and less expensive than the hotel. I think I would probably stay at the Hershey lodge and then do a dinner and/or a spa day at the Hershey hotel.

  • if you are looking for a B&B there are a few in hummelstown which is less than 10 minutes from the park.

also, the 1825 Inn B&B is in palmyra (also about ten minutes). even though we're local, my aunt and uncle stay there at least once a year. they love it.

  • I just got back (literally an hour ago) from a convention at Hershey Lodge and was staying in Hotel Hershey having stayed in both the rooms are VERY similar.  In my opinion, Hotel Hershey is not worth the price.  I agree with PP about having dinner and/or spa day there.  If you do that be sure to check out the view from the main door (or the patio above it)...it's pretty awesome.

DH and I are looking into the Days Inn for this summer...it's downtown so you can walk to some places.  Also, someone on here recommended Devon Seafood for a meal and it was outstanding!  If you like seafood def check it out (it's across the parking lot from Hershey Story Museum).

  • Thanks girls!

I've been a  crazy lady all day and haven't had time to get back, but I appreciate the suggestions!

  • I second the Devon Seafood. The food is phenomenal!
  • Also there is a slightly different Hershey Park post going on the travel board you might want to check out.  It's more geared towards kids, but there might be some info you would find helpful.

  • I lived in Hershey but never actually stayed anywhere. I do recommend going to the Hershey Pantry for breakfast! That's where we always went after work and I still miss the food there. It's right next to the Howard Johnson off of Chocolate Ave and it's AMAZING!!!

  • I totally second the 1825 Inn.  They have two suites...and they are wonderful!  FI and I stayed there for an anniversary and LOVED it!  Good luck!

  • Ok.. .i TOTALLY agree with Hershey Pantry for breakfast.  Their baked oatmeal is a different flavor almost daily & is amazing everytime.  :)

Devon is also SUPER yummy... and Houlihanns right next door is equally as amazing, but with more options.   Their pecan pie is the best.  :)

The Cocoa Grill is right across the street.  Cheap, amazing food.  :)

Honestly... anywhere in Hershey is yummy.   :)

Inn of the Dove has really nice suites... including one with an inground pool IN the room.  Its really nice.   Only about 15 mins from the park.

Good luck... hope you have a great time!!!   :)
