Poll: If you were going to go on vacay this summer would you?

Go somewhere you and H have already been to and loved (and have been saying you wanted to go back for a few years now)

 or

Go somewhere new you've never been before?

 Where would you go?

Re: Poll: If you were going to go on vacay this summer would you?

  • I think I'd choose somewhere new we've never been before. Unless it's NOLA, because there is much more eating we could do there.

As for where, Paris/London, Spain, Australia and Alaska via cruise are all high on my list (assuming out of country). Within the US, New York or Chicago.

  • Hm, it depends.

I always like to go somewhere new if I can. But there are places we have been that we don't feel like we got to spend enough time in, like Paris.

We usually just go for the best deal.

  • I'd go back to somewhere and love not having the "pressure" of exploring someplace new. That's the sort of vacation I need right now.

  • Are you looking to sightsee or to relax?

If you're planning on hanging out poolside or at the beach for most of the time, we've gone back to the same hotel a few times times because we like the service/area, etc. If you're looking to sightsee, I'd pick a new place.

  • definitely somewhere new.  that list is so long, we'll never hit 'em all.

  • I always try to pick somewhere new. I figure, easier to travel to new places while you're young(er) and more adventurous.

FWIW - mH and I went to Cabo in November because we got a great deal even though we both had been mutliple times in the past (I was just there in August) and we actually found ourselves kinda bored. In retrospect, I wish we had chosen somewhere new since we won't be doing any big vacays for a while now.

  • My priority would be getting the best deal, and hopefully somewhere new.  Although, I just got back from Hawaii and I wouldn't mind going there over and over.  I loved it.
  • Somewhere new! Beaches of Croatia.
  • Oh, and we are going to the Cayman Islands...I would go there!  I hear it's beautiful!
  • Definitely somewhere new. Every time I've gone back to some place I loved before it's been good, but not great, you know? There are so many places that I haven't been that I find I enjoy exploring them more. Where do you guys have in mind?

ETA: I forgot to say where. DH and l would love to do a South America trip to Peru, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. We've also talked about India or Australia. In the US I'd love to go to Chicago. We're taking a road trip around CA this summer.

  • I would go back to Jamaica where we went on our honeymoon.  Our next big trip is going to be that.  We wanted to go for our 5 year but I ended up getting my job back so it didn't work out.  Maybe our 6 year! LOL
  • We talk about going to Japan for our next big trip (I've never been, but DH has), but I also mention wanting to go back to Hawaii & Italy with Em this time.

ETA: Oops! Didn't even really answer your question! In your case, like others mentioned, if you're in the mood for exploring and site-seeing, go somewhere new. If you really just want to relax, go somewhere you've been before.

  • depends on the place, for sure.

a resort beach where you just chill? I'd say no.

  • Somewhere new
  • I would go somewhere new, but I think it depends on the place you guys love vs the places you have in mind on traveling to.

    For us -

Outside of US: Australia, South Africa, India, Tahiti/Fiji, Belize, Mexico (certain parts), Maldives, Monte Carlo and Caribbean.

US: Atlanta, New Orleans and a small city in Kentucky (we have family and friends in those areas and would love to visit them...plus we've never been).

  • Definitely some place new or a place I haven't been in the past 15 years.

On the top of my list are: Greece, Spain, Peru, Argentina, and Japan.
